Dental Hygiene in Maylands, Magill, Norwood, St. Peters, Adelaide
Gum diseases, otherwise known as gingivitis or periodontitis, are some of the most common dental problems that we see. Untreated, gum disease can have very serious consequences, not only causing discomfort and pain, but can lead to abscesses and tooth loss.
Immaculate oral hygiene is the best preventer and treatment of gum disease. Our dental hygiene team can offer you thorough advice and treatment to monitor and maintain your periodontal health.
We offer comprehensive dental hygiene services at Maylands Dental. Oral hygiene should be an integral part of your daily routine. Brushing and flossing daily, in addition to regular dental check-ups and cleans are paramount to preventing dental diseases. We will look after all aspects of your oral hygiene including monitoring periodontal health, early detection of dental decay, dietary advice, and oral hygiene instructions.
Most extrinsic staining on teeth can be removed during your regular scale and clean hygiene appointments. Some stains are intrinsic. Tooth discolouration can also be caused by infection or previous trauma to the tooth. This will require teeth whitening/bleaching.
There are a number of factors that can cause staining. Poor dental hygiene and overall health problems, such as diabetes, can all affect the appearance of your teeth. Teeth may also change colour as you get older and the enamel naturally thins.
Diet plays an integral part in this. Tea, coffee, red wine, and tobacco are all things that can contribute to extrinsic staining.
